A final test was performed on the LG GCC-4120B by connecting the drive to a regular PSU molex connector. To access the drive all that is
required is to push the red button switch and the drive tray is extended ready for use.

To complete the rest of the drive stealthing, additional mounting holes were drilled into the aluminum drive bay plate so that the headphone
audio jack was accessible and the drive LEDs visable. Two pieces of industrial strength Velcro tape were used to keep the drive bay
plate stationary and finish off the completed modification.

Soldering PC VU-Meter PCB
|
|
In the original Hi-TEK PC-60 Project, I introduced our readers to the concept
of adding a Stereo VU-Meter into a standard PC. The concept was extremely popular and was completed with the assistance
of Ben Brandt aka BSqaured using a kit from Webtronics.com.
For this HTPC, I wanted to incorporate the same unique VU-Meter into this project. A new custom kit was ordered from
PCModKits.com which included all the necessary parts
required to assemble the VU-Meter circuit. The documentation on the website is excellent and following the simple
instructions and schematic, I managed to assemble the included components using a soldering gun in less than 1 hour.
The kit also uses two LM3915 dot/bar display driver ICs to drive 2 rows of 10 LEDs (14 green and 6 red). In order to drive sound for the LEDs it also
requires wiring up an audio stereo input jack.
