The next process of this project was to come up with some idea to mount the motherboard. I imagined that
it too had to be something weird or I knew it just wouldn’t fit in properly. A friend at the time was
also modding a case and together we came up with the idea of putting openings in the middle to help
vent in fresh air. A couple of sketches and I cut what you see here before you. The motherboard will be
mounted to the lower half; all mounting holes have been pre-drilled for what-ever motherboard is to be
used. I’m aiming at building an AMD 64 3500+ system.

The sides of the case need something too, but what to do that would be different? I decided to do some
sort of double door, these side panels will act as a permanent fixture unless full access is needed.
They may be a permanent panel with the middle portion having partial Lexan inserts with some of the
middle left open for yet a smaller access door. This part of the whole modding will come later; nothing
here is written in stone and may change at any time. These panels were originally designed by me, but
were reshaped and cut by Slaughter; I wanted both doors to be exactly the same.

Lets go back to the top cap of this project once more, I now have an idea for this grilled portion. I
kind of thought of something at the start but decided to wait and let something grow from it. Here we
see the ˝” clear Plexiglas inserted into the vent. This is where the 120mm Antec Stealth exhaust fan
will sit just under it. A perforated two tone, 2 layer grill will fit on the top. Here’s what the whole
thing looks like painted, again the 2 colours were used together to contrast each other and show the
depth of each section.
