  Guest Author:     Jonathan Hamilton
  Date:     December 23rd, 2003

Design:

With all of the details finally organized I developed a new diagram for the wiring of the LCD to the printer cable, a circuit board layout, and a parts list.

Here is a list of tools and supplies that will be required to complete this project:

  • Soldering iron and supplies
  • Wire cutters
  • Small phillips and flat screwdrivers
  • Voltmeter
  • Soldering skills
  • Some electrical knowledge
  • Patience
Before assembly, I should first state the obvious; a 40x2 LCD will not fit the front of a standard case. I am planning to mount the LCD into a side window on my case for a more dramatic effect.
