Behind the bay cover is the printed circuit board driving the unit. Four massive heatsinks cool chips that control four
channels capable of handling 20 watts per channel, more than adequate for even the most power-hungry cooling solutions
(Vantec Tornado users take note!). The PCB is secured to the cover by the control knobs and two support arms at the rear
quarters of the board, which have screw mounts to hold the board firmly in place. To prevent an accidental short,the
bottom of the PCB is padded with an open-cell foam pad. Overall, the unit shows lots of care has been taken in
engineering a rock solid product.

Internally, the unit gets its power from a standard 4-pin Molex connector. The individual channels are connected via
3-pin headers. The choice of a 3-pin header is unorthodox, given most units use of a screw down terminal. This
implementation at least provides a cleaner installation for fans that don’t require extension cabling to reach the
power connectors. Since most users are used to making some type of joint for rear exhaust fans, splicing in a 3-pin
connector is just as much work as a straight cable extension. Again, this is more of a user preference; it doesn’t
hinder functionality of the product.Lian-Li owners may be under the assumption that this unit is a tool free kit, since
the Lian-Li bay covers have dimples that snap the bay cover into place against the chassis. The bay cover used,
however, secures itself to the chassis via four screws.

Sunbeam Technology really shows their attention to detail with this shot of the interface between the main IC and the
heatsink - a healthy dose of thermal compound. The transistor being used is a TIP31A, as opposed to the more commonly
seen LM317T variable voltage regulator. Another nice feature is the socketed LED’s. If a red/blue colour scheme doesn’t
suit your needs, the LED can easily be swapped out for a dual LED of your choice.
