MODTHEBOX would like to thank Christopher from PCXMods
for sending the X-Trac Pro HS Optical Mouse Pad for review.
Introduction:
Mice pads have been a small key component for most computer users, whether the principal use is for
gaming or for standard desktop applications. Last year at MTB, we reviewed three different mouse pads
surfaces, the Ratpadz, the Icemat
and the Speed-Pad, each with their own strengths and
weaknesses. Now a new company has a mouse pad that they think will be very popular with gamers and
casual users that boasts to be one of the most accurate pads for optical mice. Located in Salt Lake
City, Utah, PCXMods was started in July of 2002 by a group of PC gamers and has been developing products
with a different approach to the modding industry. Today in the MTB Labs, we will ve evaluating the
X-Trac Pro HS Optical Mouse Pad, a product designed to provide accurate gaming performance.
Specifications:
The X-Trac Pro HS Optical Mouse Pad is the latest product to be developed by PCXMods. The HS in the
title name stands for "Hard Surface". The hexagonal pattern which is present on the product has been
printed at a resolution of 1200 dpi and is protected by a hard plastic surface. Here are some
specifications taken from the PCXMods website:

The X-Trac Pro HS measures 8.5" x 11" which should give most people plenty of pad to freely move the
mouse around on, however this also means that it will take up a fair amount of desktop space. The top
portion of the pad is made of thin flexible plastic sheeting and the hexagonal print has a 1200dpi
resolution. The pattern inside each of the hexagons has been printed in a random dot pattern to
eliminate cursor fade and jitter.

The X-Trac Pro HS has a rubber foam pad underneath to ensure that the pad does not move around while in
use. The construction of the pad is not solid, which means one can roll the pad up and toss into a LAN
bag easily without it sticking into your back when transporting gear. The lower right hand corner
sports the X-Trac Pro HS logo. The overall thickness of the X-Trac Pro HS is at a comfortable height
that will keep the wrist straight, therefore easing the strain that could lead to Upper Limb Disorders
(ULDs) and Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs). The shape of the X-Trac Pro HS is rectangular, unlike the
Ratpadz and the Speed-Pad which both have the arch at the bottom.
