Introduction:
Case lighting applications have been with us as long as there have been windows in cases. People have used a variety of different
products currently on the market to illuminate a standard case interior. Sunbeam Technology has recently released two new light
kits to supplement their already successful line of cold cathode lamps, the Lazer LED kit and the EL
Lightstrip Kit. Both of these kits are aimed at case modders who wish to add a bit of coloured light
inside or outside their cases. Today in the MTB Labs, we will take a look at these new products designed
specifically for a modified computer case.
Specifications:
The Lazer LED product utilizes a 3 light spread pattern and is available in five different versions. The colours range from red, green,
blue, purple, or a combination of red, blue and green. Each unit is packaged into a chrome plastic casing powered by one molex plug.
The EL Lightstrip Kit comes pre-assembled and is available in 5 different colours ranging from orange, yellow, blue, green and light red.

The Sunbeam Lazer LED kit arrived packaged in a formed blister display package with specifications and dimensions printed on the back.
The package is self-contained with all the necessary components needed for installation.

The review sample sent by Sunbeam Technology is the chrome plastic bodied, green LED version of the Lazer LED Kit. The product is
pre-wired to a 4-pin pass-through cable, where one lead plugs directly into a power supply and the second lead plugs directly into
an optional secondary EL Lightstrip. For those who have power consumption concerns, the Lazer LED Kit draws less than 26mA,
substantially less than various cold cathodes, which can draw 300mA or more. The Lazer LED body measures a mere 43mm x 16mm x 10mm
and is small enough to fit almost anywhere.
