MODTHEBOX would like to thank Jerry & Tony from Pham Computer
for sending the Thermaltake Hardcano 8 VR Fan Controller for review.
Introduction:
The original concept of fan control was simply based on the ability to manually operate your fans by a simple on and off
switch that would in return allow for the user to have a quieted down machine at a basic flick of a switch. The concept was
simple enough and the modification of splicing in a switch to the fan and power supply was an easy task hand. Since then,
advanced cooling products have become commercialized and pioneered by companies such as PCMods with the ever-popular Rheobus
and Baybus units that have changed the way in which the case modification community deals with fan control. In the past,
MTB has featured a variety of fan control devices from various large and small manufacturers each with their own fates. Today
in MTB Labs, we will be evaluating the latest fan control device produced by Thermaltake, the Hardcano 8 VR Fan Controller
from Pham Computer.
Specifications:
The Hardcano 8 VR is one of several Hardcano themed coolers developed by Thermaltake. The previous versions focused on HD
cooling with slight revisions in terms of features and design. The Hardcano VR 8 represents the first attempt at providing
a fan based cooling solution. Here are some of the specifications taken directly from the Thermaltake website:

The rear portion of the package lists full specifications and a small caution warning. The overall packaging is impressive

Out of the box, my first impressions of the Thermaltake Hardcano 8 VR were positive. One standout feature is the all around
anodized royal blue color. I did note some very small chipping on the front of the unit yet this is hardly visible to the
naked eye. The dimensions of the Thermaltake Hardcano 8 VR measures are 144mm x 78mm x 42mm. Unlike other fan control units
on the market, the Hardcano 8 VR comes pre-assembled and mounted into an Anodized Aluminum "U" type housing which makes it
virtually ready for use without the need for any drilling.
