MODTHEBOX would like to thank Chris from The Cutting Edge
for sending the Raidmax LP-6100D Blue Aluminum PSU for review.
Introduction:
PSU enclosures are one of several key components, which make up a complete computer system and can dictate
overall system performance. One of the more important factors to consider when integrating system components
is to evaluate power consumption requirements. Both AMD and Intel provide authorized lists in terms of
recommended PSU units which help most consumers decide what type of unit and brand name would be best suited
for their systems. Recently, there have been a few manufacturers who have deviated away from traditional PSU
designs to offer a combination of great aesthetics and good cooling options. Today in the MTB Labs, we will
be evaluating the Raidmax LP-6100D Blue Aluminum PSU, a product that combines dual fan cooling options and is
compatible on the Intel and AMD platform.
Specifications:
The Raidmax LP-6100D Blue Aluminum PSU is one of two different units available on the Cutting Edge
website. The Raidmax LP-6100E is a gold version of the same design but utilizes 500 watts by default.
All Raidmax power supplies comply with EMI and FCC Class B, CE and meets EN55022 Class B standards.
Here are some specifications taken directly from the Cutting Edge website:

The Raidmax LP-6100D Blue Aluminum PSU was shipped in a bright orange coloured corrugated box
with manufacturer's logos and images printed on any of the sides. The back portion of the packaging
includes product specifications and industry regulation standards. The packaging inside the box was
good and consisted of the PSU itself and all the PSU Molex connections bundled on the right hand side.

Out of the box, the Raidmax LP-6100D Blue Aluminum PSU has an aesthetically pleasing design. The
exterior of the PSU has been encased in a blue anodized aluminum chassis. The thick aluminum chassis
has small fins incorporated into the design, which allows this unit to act as a heatsink and provide
additional cooling for the PSU. The unit measures approximately 150mm x 145mm x 86mm and is slightly
heavier than most steel based power supplies on the market. By default this unit comes with two
transparent built-in UV sensitive 80mm ball bearing fans, which are positioned, on either side of the
unit for optimal cooling. The Raidmax LP-6100D did not ship with any instruction manual but includes
a few built-in features, which include over current protection, over temperature protection and in-rush
current protection. These features are designed to safe guard any components that are attached to this
unit and is comparable to surge protection found on most standard power bar strips.
