The blower is secured to the heatsink via a translucent air scoop. Air is drawn in at the center of the blower and then forced down over the fins. Removing the fan from the heatsink, you can see that the entire heatsink benefits from the airflow and static pressure generated by the dual bearing fan. The scoop sits completely flush against the corner brackets of the shroud on the heatsink. With a small amount of modding, some LEDs could do a nice job of illuminating the scoop for visual appeal.

The heatsink for the Aero 7+ is almost identical to the one provided with the X-Dream SE. The unit is an all-copper design and measures 80mm x 80mm x 51mm. A fan shroud guarantees that all airflow is forced over the 37 fins. The shroud also includes 4 corner fold outs which allow the fan to be secured to the heatsink. The retention clip runs perpendicular to the fins, and uses a bare minimum amount of space within the heatsink. The clip features a 6-point locking bracket which allows for a secure fitting to the motherboard socket.

Aero 7+ skived fins

Another key technology incorporated into the design of the heatsink is the skived fins. Skived fins differ from traditional heatsink designs since the fins are not bonded or folded onto the base of the heatsink. Each fin has literally been shaved from the base of the heatsink. By using this machining process, the fins and the base are the same piece of copper, allowing for maximum thermal transfer.
