MODTHEBOX would like to thank Chris and Dan from Xoxide Modifications for sending the RazerX Micro-ATX Tower Case for review.

Introduction:

The SFF (Small Form Factor) market has been revitalized with a surge of all-inclusive mini PC systems marketed by companies such as ACorp, AMS, Biostar, Hush Technologies, MSI, Shuttle, Soltek, and VIA. SFF type PC's have a great advantage of minimizing desktop space requirements and at the same time bundling all the essentials required to assemble a complete system. While the popularity of these types of systems continues to grow there is of course the associated cost factor. For the DIY type market, there is a wide variety of off the shelf parts that can be assembled together to create a HTPC system and keep costs reasonable. In the past, SFF type PC case selection has been slim, but recently there have been a few designs released to the consumer market that add functionality and aesthetics. Today in the MTB Labs, we will be evaluating the RazerX Micro-ATX Tower Case, a product designed specifically for the Micro ATX platform.

Specifications:

The RazerX Micro-ATX Tower Case is one of two different entry level mATX based cases offered on the Xoxide Modifications website. Consumers have the option of selecting the all black or orange version of the case. Both cases include a P4 certified 200 watt power supply. Here are some of the specifications taken directly from the Xoxide Modifications website:

The RazerX Micro ATX Tower Case was shipped in a standard double-walled corrugated box with no case manufacturer's logos or specifications printed on the package. Packaging inside the box was adequate with the RazerX Micro-ATX Case enclosed with protected plastic wrap supported by a series of polystyrene peanuts.

Out of the box, the RazerX Micro-ATX Tower Case can immediately draw some similarities to the popular Microsoft X-Box. The entire construction of the case consists of a steel chassis balanced with plastic aesthetic highlights. An "X" pattern has been centered on each side of the panels and gives the RazerX a real sophisticated look. The case measures approximately 440mm (H) x 155mm (W) x 270mm (D) and only supports Micro ATX based motherboards. Xoxide has marketed this specific product to appeal to consumers utilizing small form factor components, which are suitable for LAN events or HTPC (Home Theatre PC) style applications. The RazerX Micro-ATX Tower Case includes a P4 certified 200 watt power supply which should be sufficient for most consumers needs.
