MODTHEBOX would like to thank Thermaltake
for sending the Thermaltake A1654 Fireball 80mm Fan Kit for review.
Introduction:
Electroluminescent lighting has always been one of the popular alternatives to illuminate the interior
of a case. As a stand alone product, it can compliment a modified case by adding a number of great
aesthetics. There are currently a few manufacturers on the market who have used Electroluminescent
cabling in their products. Thermaltake has been busy manufacturing new products specifically targeted
for the case modification market. Recently, the company has combined the use of electroluminescent
sheets and LED's to create a new solution that can supplement traditional lighting applications. Today
in the MTB Labs, we will be evaluating Thermaltake's newest product in their PerfectLight series, the
A1654 Fireball fan and EL fan grill kit.
Specifications:
The A1654 Fireball 80mm Fan is the latest in the Thermaltake PerfectLight series of EL case lighting kits.
The Fireball comes standard with a tri-coloured 80mm LED fan and a rotating EL illuminated fan grill
powered by an ON/OFF SPST switch controlled inverter. Here are some of the specifications taken directly
from the Thermaltake website:

Included in the package is the tri-coloured LED 80mm fan with the EL fan grill installed, the ON/OFF
inverter, a bag of four 52mm bolts, 3 to 4-pin fan adapter and a sheet of installation instructions. The
fan and guard are held together using 3cm bolts instead of standard fan screws through a plastic spacer.
From the EL fan guard, there is a six wire ribbon cable measuring 69cm. The included 80mm tri-light fan
is the TT-8025, which is used in a few of the Thermaltake products, and can push 28 CFM of air and
create 21 dBA of noise with their sleeve bearing system. The entire fan and grill weighs in at 63 g,
which could replace an 80mm fan from a heatsink.
