MODTHEBOX would like to thank Eric from Raidtronics for sending the Scorpio 668 Blue Mid-Tower Case for review.

Introduction:

Economical based computer cases haven't changed much in the past year. It seems that a select group of case manufacturers have all migrated towards one standard chassis design. In the past few months, we have witnessed Antec, Aspire, Chieftec, Chenming, Enermax and Thermaltake release similar case products with slight external changes. The popularity of one standard chassis design has opened opportunities for some newer companies to also compete in the consumer case market. Raidcom Technology (Raidtronics) has recently released a series of full tower and mid-tower tower cases marketed under the Scorpio Series. Today in the MTB Labs, we’ll be evaluating the Scorpio 668 Blue Mid-Tower Case, a product that offers pre-modified options and aesthetic appeal.

Specifications:

The Scorpio 668 Blue Mid-Tower Case is one of many consumer based cases offered by Raidtronics and comes complete with all the functionality found in more expensive models. The specifications of the Scorpio 668 are simular to that of your classic mid-tower case and is generally suited for consumers looking for a complete pre-modded solution. Here are some of the case specifications taken directly from the Raidtronics website:

The Raidmax Scorpio 668 Blue Mid-Tower Case shipped in a standard corrugated cardboard box with minimal markings. The unit was well packed in formed polystyrene, which completely envelops the top and bottom panels. Removing the case from its packaging, the unit itself is protected by a sheet of clear plastic. Additionally, the interior and exterior of the window are protected by removable plastic to protect against scratching.

My initial impression of the Scorpio was mixed. The Chenming/Antec aluminum case is certainly not a new design, but the front bezel has a unique add-on to a very popular case. The front bezel illumination and the chromed fan grill add to the overall aesthetics. However, there were a few things I was expecting that were clearly not there or very different from the representations on the Raidmax website. The review unit that was received shipped without the included power supply, although the web site boasts a 420-Watt unit is supposed to be included with the product.
