MODTHEBOX would like to thank Dan from Danger Den for sending the MAZE4 Power Water Cooling Kit for review.

Danger Den

Introduction:

Water cooling has gained popularity over the last few years transitioning away from the obscure underground to a mainstream spotlight. Computer enthusiasts were the first realize the benefits of water cooling versus traditional air cooling. It is only recently, that we have witnessed a few of the larger manufacturers incorporating water cooling options as part of their product lines. It is also clear that there is still a small percentage of the overclocking community that actively water cool their systems. Part of the problem is finding a unique easy to use all-in-one solution that performs well and is made of high quality parts. Danger Den based out of Astoria, Oregon has established a respectable reputation for producing some of the best water cooling equipment currently on the market. The company represents the high-end portion of water cooling market fueled by their flagship MAZE Series of water blocks. Today in the MTB Labs, we will be evaluating the Danger Den MAZE4 Power Water Cooling Kit, a self contained cooling system designed specifically for the power user.

The MAZE4 Power Water Cooling Kit consists of various components that can be assembled together to form a complete water cooling system. The Danger Den MAZE4 Power Water Cooling Kit was shipped in a standard corrugated cardboard box with no labels or specifications listed on the package. Inside the box revealed an assortment of smaller packaged components each sealed in plastic protective wrap. A one page reference sheet provides a list of included components. The MAZE4 Power Water Cooling Kit is being marketed as a high-end product designed specifically for consumers who overclock their PC's and want good cooling performance.

Out of the box, the assortment of items includes the following:
  • MAZE4 Lucite Top Block w/4 Hole Mounting Kit and 1/2" chrome fittings
  • Black Ice Xtreme (Black) Radiator
  • Hydor L30 320 G/H
  • Sunon KD1212PTB1-6A 120mm Fan
  • Water Wetter 4oz Bottle
  • Arctic Silver 3 Thermal Compound
  • 7ft of 1/2" ID Clear Flex Tubing
  • Typhoon-Quad Reservoir
  • 10 Hose Clamps
  • 1 x 1/2" T Fitting
  • 1 x 1/2" Y Fitting
The MAZE4 Power Water Cooling Kit represents the best of breed in terms of components that are both brand name and of high quality. While the components in this package are pre-selected, consumers also have the option of individually selecting a custom setup which best suits their own personal needs. During my inspection of the parts, I did note that a Chipset and GPU cooling solution were missing from the package, but these components can be purchased as a separate add-on. Also absent from the package was any sort of documentation to explain to setup and use of each component. More experienced users should not have a problem figuring out the initial setup but novice users might want to refer to the online documentation that is currently available on the Danger Den website. The documentation is a little outdated but the premise for understanding how to setup each component and the procedures used should work for most users. To secure all hose connections, Danger Den has included 10 easy adjustable plastic hose clamps as well as one tube of Arctic Silver 3 Thermal Compound, 1 x 1/2" T fitting, 1 x 1/2" Y fitting and a 4oz bottle of Water Wetter.
