MODTHEBOX would like to thank Furqan from AngelEye Technologies for sending the Bay-Res Revision 2 for review.

AngelEye Technologies

Introduction:

The DIY form of water cooling remains the dominant approach for enthusiasts and allows for a more customized water cooling setup of carefully chosen parts along with greater performance than all-in-one kits readily available. One of the more common products seen DIY duplicated is often the reservoir due to the simplicity and lack of machine or advanced skills required. The water cooling market only offers a handful of quality-constructed reservoirs, some of which have set a basis of design and function for the remaining companies to improve upon. Earlier this year MTB had the opportunity to review an innovative product called the Bay-Res. This product has since been revised and today in MTB Labs, we will be evaluating the AngelEye Technologies Bay-Res Reservoir Revision 2.

Specifications:

The Bay-Res Reservoir Revision 2 comes completely pre-assembled with all necessary items for installation. The Bay-Res Reservoir Revision 2 is designed to bring the benefits of a reservoir to an existing or new water cooling setup and resides in a vacant 5.25" bay. Here are some specifications taken directly from the AngelEye Technologies website:

The AngelEye Technologies Bay-Res Reservoir Revision 2 ships in a standard white cardboard box. The unit is safely packaged inside using bubble wrap. As an extra pre-caution, the Bay-Res Revision 2 comes pre-assembled and complete with a brown paper backing on the majority of the unit to prevent any scratches or fingerprints prior to installation. Also included in the package is a set of 4 mounting screws used for installation along with a color printed information sheet.

The Bay-Res Reservoir Revision 2 measures 19mm (L) x 15mm (W) x 4mm (H) and is designed to reside in a 5.25" bay. This form factor allows for an easy, diverse installation on almost any case without the need for modifications to be made. The Bay-Res Reservoir Revision 2 is constructed from 1/4" cast acrylic which has been joined together with a water tight seal and pressure-leak tested. My overall impressions of the Bay-Res Revision 2 were positive with many possible modifications along with quality construction. The Bay-Res Revision 2 is quite similar to the original Bay-Res which MTB featured here. A few subtle changes have been since implemented, some highlights include the addition of a center channel, two 3mm LED mounts and issues addressed revolving the fill cap and rear barbs. The review sample featured is the all clear model yet consumers should note both UV reactive neon blue and green models are also available.

A total of 2 pre-drilled mounting holes reside on each the left and right hand sides of the Bay-Res Reservoir Revision 2. The holes have been backed with small acrylic blocks to prevent any leaking or over-tightening. One of the newer additions to the Bay-Res Reservoir Revision 2 is the addition of two LED mounts located at the rear. The LED mounts are designed to be used with 3mm LEDs only and allow for a nice boost in aesthetics when paired with UV reactive dye and LEDs or your favorite color of lighting. Unfortunately, there were no LEDs included in the package. The use of a 5mm LED mount would be slightly problematic as you would no be able to fully insert the LED into the mount. Users may enlarge these holes at their own risk to accommodate the LED yet will not be able to full insert a 5mm model.
