One of the highlights of the new PCMods Rheobus kit is that they have finally addressed the problem with the stock aluminum knobs that most consumers love to hate. The older style knobs have now been replaced with more stylish polished anodized knobs. To add to the aesthetics of the kit, a new line of anodized knobs are now available in black, green, red, blue, gold and purple. The new anodized knobs are .6 inches tall and .75 inches in diameter, a hexagon allen key is supplied for installation.

The PCMods Rheobus v2.0 Kit requires 12v from a standard PSU for power and includes a "Y" bypass molex splitter with one male and two female connectors. Consumers will appreciate having this splitter for powering other peripherals along side the unit. PCMods has also soldered a male molex connector onto the PCB circuit to simplify the wiring process.

The design of the PCB circuit for the rheobus speaks volumes in terms of professional assembly and design. All the circuits have been well integrated to eliminate the wire mess found in most homemade units. Large heatsinks are used on the LM317T voltage regulators and the PCB features and onboard LM324N chip. I did a little research and found out that the LM324N is a Linear IC - OP Amp chip that is responsible for sending signals to the LED's when voltage is applied to the rheostats. If you want more information on the LM324N or LM324, there is an excellent PDF document available right here from Fairchild Semiconductor.
