MODTHEBOX would like to thank Jeff from Xoxide
for sending the Thermaltake Silent Boost HSF for review.
Introduction:
In a highly active computing environment, it is very hard to escape the associated noise generated from
a standard computer system. A typical system which has a combination of storage and multimedia components
requires supplemental cooling to reduce additional heat generated. To remove additional heat enthusiasts
use a wide variety of air cooling solutions which consist of case fans placed in strategic locations to
generate air circulation. Air cooling solutions for both AMD and INTEL platforms also use some form of
heatsink and cooling fan combination to keep CPU temperatures minimized. To address noise levels, there
is a small segment of manufacturers that are marketing products designed specifically for silent
performance. Today in the MTB Labs, we will be examining the Thermaltake Silent Boost HSF, a new product
which utilizes "Hydro Wave Bearing" fan technology to cool high performance CPU's.
Specifications:
The Thermaltake Silent Boost HSF is an all-copper based cooler with an aluminum fan shroud designed for
AMD Athlon XP Processors up to 3400+. The unit is designed to provide quiet performance even at higher
processor speeds. Here are some of the specifications taken directly from the Thermaltake and Xoxide

Out of the box, the Thermaltake Silent Boost HSF shares similar design characteristics of other Thermaltake
coolers notably the Volcano 11+ Xaser Edition and the Extreme Volcano 12. The cooler measures approximately
85mm (L) x 73mm (W) x 48mm (H) and comes equipped with an 80mm "Hydro Wave Bearing" cooling fan. Also
included in the package was a small tube of generic thermal grease and a one page reference sheet. The
one page reference sheet provides a 5-step process for installing this product into any computer system.
