MODTHEBOX would like to thank Anand from ADPmods
for sending the Overclocker's CPU Cooler Kit for review.
Introduction:
If you ever dare to venture into the realm of overclocking there are several techniques and safety
precautions that must be followed in order to guarantee the longevity of a computer system. Computing
enthusiasts have several options of overclocking solutions available in the form of standard air cooling
, water cooling, phase change or thermal cooling. Each solution has its pluses and minuses and is
dependant on your personal needs and configuration. To supplement each solution, there are a wide variety
of products currently on the market which provide assistance in dissipating heat away from an overclocked
CPU. Sunbeam Technology based out of Taipei, Taiwan has been in existence for the last three years developing
a series of case modification specific products for the retail market. The company has recently shifted
focus and has started to concentrate on the crowded overclocking market with the introduction of their
first overclocking cooling kit. Today in the MTB Labs, we will be evaluating the Sunbeam Overclocker's
CPU Cooler Kit, a product that guarantees a reduction of heat temperatures for an overclocked computer
system.
Specifications:
The Overclocker's CPU Cooler Kit is one of the two available kits from Sunbeam Technology and is designed to be used on
any standard computer system. The kit comes un-assembled and includes all the necessary components for installation.
Consumers have the option of selecting from two different colour variations (silver and blue) which are available from
the manufacturer's website. Here are some of the specifications taken from the ADPMods and Sunbeam Technology websites:

The Sunbeam Overclocker's CPU Cooler Kit arrived in standard retail packaging with the manufacturer's logos and images printed
on all sides. The front portion of the package has the product logo, model number and an image of the Overclocker's CPU Cooling
Kit installed in an acrylic case. The side and rear portions of the package contain information on product specifications, features,
parts list, and a mini 5-step installation guide.

Upon opening up the package, consumers will find an assortment of items that include the following:
1 x Flexible Mylar Air Duct
2 x Stainless Steel clams
4 x Snap Rivets
3 x Duct Connectors
1 x Fan Filter
1 x Plastic Chimney
4 x Fan Screws
After examining the package contents, I couldn't help but feel very skeptical over the whole idea of
this kit. The material included in this package is not relatively expensive and from a quick examination
looks like it can be easily duplicated using ordinary house hold materials. Sunbeam Technology's premise
behind this kit is that it effectively reduces CPU temperatures thus providing a more stable overclocked
system.
The package does not include any additional instructions or reference material other than a series of
photos and sentences on the back of the packaging. There is an assumption that consumers who are purchasing
this kit are already familiar with the techniques and process required for overclocking. For those that
require assistance, MTB has already published three popular guides on the subject:
One claim that is boldly displayed on the packaging is that this kit guarantees at least a 15 degree
drop once the kit is installed. A CPU temperature comparison chart is provided which demonstrates this
amazing feat but fails to provide more information in terms of the testing process, CPU platform used,
hardware tested, ambient temperature recorded, type of heatsink, fan RPM speed, ect. Sunbeam does place
a disclaimer on the packaging that the effectiveness of the Overclocker's CPU Cooler Kit is dependant
on each user's CPU and working computer environment.

One of the bigger items included in the kit is a silver Flexible Mylar Air Duct. The air duct measures
approximately 50cm in length and has an 81mm diameter. The duct is similar to products used on laundry
dryers, air conditioners and air ventilation shafts. Also included in the kit are three different types
of black fan duct connectors. The fan duct connectors come in three different sizes 87mm x 87mm, 83.5mm
× 83.5mm and 73.5mm × 73.5mm. The fan duct connectors work directly with the Flexible Mylar Air Duct and
will be demonstrated later on in this review.
