Out of the packaging, the CNPS7000A-Cu HSF Cooler builds upon the design characteristics of the previous CNPS6500A-Cu model featuring the famous Zalman flower design. In the past, where Zalman extended the flower design from left to right, the new CNPS7000A-Cu HSF Cooler uses 65 3mm copper fins around the diameter of the 92mm ball bearing fan creating a larger heat dissipation area of 3170cm². The CNPS7000A-Cu HSF Cooler measures 109mm (L) x 109mm (W) x 62mm (H) and weighs in at a whopping 773g. The weight of the CNPS7000A-Cu is clearly over the socket weight restrictions imposed by Intel and AMD, but to compensate Zalman has included three different mounting mechanisms to counter balance the extra weight.

The bottom of the CNPS7000A-Cu HSF Cooler is machined smooth and has a nice reflective copper surface which should assist with moving heat away from the CPU. Upon closer inspection, I didn't notice any machine or nick marks along the outer edge and center of the copper base.

The included 92mm fan is of the Zalman brand and has a rated speed of 1350 RPM in Silent Mode and 2400 RPM in Normal Mode (+/- 10%). The fan is designed specifically for silent operation and has a noise level rating of 20 dB ± 10% in Silent Mode and 25 dB ± 10% in Normal Mode. In order to control noise and RPM speeds, Zalman has bundled the Fan Mate 1 accessory. The Fan Mate 1 measures 200mm (L) x 23mm (W) x 21mm (H), has an output voltage of 5V ~ 10.7V +-2% and allows the use of fans rated 6W or lower. The Fan Mate 1 is a bypass device that plugs one end into the 3-pin header of the 92mm fan and the other end to a 3-pin fan header on a motherboard.

A closer inspection of the 3mm copper fins reveals that each fin has been stamped with the Zalman name on the side. Towards the base of the CNPS7000A-Cu HSF Cooler is an adjustable fan bracket that works universally with each clipping mechanism. The fan bracket is secured to the copper base using 4 mounting screws and bolts and also balances the mounting clip.
