MODTHEBOX would like to thank Jessica from SilverStone Technology
for sending the SilverStone Lascala SST-LC01 HTPC Case for review.
Introduction:
The case manufacturing market has kept most consumers busy with a wide variety of unique and sophisticated
designs to appeal to any computing environment. Consumers looking to design any dream machine can select
from different form factor formats, cooling features, monitoring options, as well as material used for
the construction of the case chassis. For the last few years, mid-tower and server tower style cases
have predominately been used for most system builds either by the DIY approach or professionally assembled.
The popularity of the HTPC or Home Theatre PC concept has recently revitalized the application for desktop
style cases. SilverStone Technology based out of Ontario, California is a relative newcomer to the consumer
computer market specializing in unique ID and mechanical design for all kinds of aluminum alloy products.
The company has recently released a series HTPC style cases marketed under the Lascala brand name. Today in
the MTB Labs, we will be evaluating the SilverStone Lascala SST-LC01 HTPC Case, a product which resembles
high-end stereo equipment bundled with the functionality of a standard PC.
Specifications:
The Lascala SST-LC01 HTPC Case is one of four different units available on the SilverStone Technology
website. Consumers have the option of selecting from two different colour formats (black and silver)
as well as two different model designs. The Lascala HTPC Cases come pre-assembled and support both
mATX and Full ATX motherboard formats. Here are some specifications taken directly from the SilverStone
Technology website:

The SilverStone Lascala SST-LC01 HTPC Case arrived in boxed cardboard packaging with a black identification
labeling on the sides. The cardboard box resembled that of electronic component packaging used for DVD
Players, Stereo Equipment and Hi-Fi VCR's. The case was sealed in protected plastic with 2 pieces of polystyrene
located on both sides of the unit.

My first impressions of the SilverStone Lascala SST-LC01 HTPC Case after removing the packaging were
extremely positive. Out of the box the case speaks volumes in terms of aesthetics and craftsmanship
rivaling similar designs released by Cooler Master and Lian Li. The case measures 450mm (D) x 425mm (W)
x 159mm (H) and supports all mATX and Full ATX motherboard formats. The entire exterior is black coloured
with the main focus on the front bezel design which has been accented with brushed aluminum highlights.
The front bezel is very stylish with a great retro stereo component type look that is replicated from
left to right. By default the case does not ship with a PSU but can be purchased as an seperate add-on
option. Also included in the packaging were a small reference manual, USB, Audio and Firewire pin-out sheet
and a package of motherboard standoffs and mounting screws.
