MODTHEBOX would like to thank Michelle from FSP Group
for sending the Silent Solution Kit for review.
Introduction:
Computers are generally sold with the barest of components and system requirements. Most systems usually
come equipped with a stock CPU cooler, basic fan and a lack-luster power supply. While the average consumer
is either unaware of the under cooling or not concerned as the system performance. Hardcore computer
enthusiasts are more than concerned and will add or replace the fans, coolers or power supply to feed
the growing need for both power and the ability to keep system temperatures minimal. The FSP Group, based
in Taiwan, has been manufacturing power supply units for various companies since 1993, and has recently
developed an all-in-solution that promises silent operation in either an AMD or Pentium 4 platform.
Today in the MTB Labs, we will be evaluating the new Silent Solution Kit from the FSP Group.
Specifications:
The Silent Solution Kit is an all-inclusive package designed specifically to add cooling peroformance and
silent operation to a standard computer system. The package includes all the necessary components and
requires some installation. Here are some specifications taken directly from the FSP Group website:

Inside the box, the power supply is packaged separately from the CPU cooler and the 80mm fan to keep
the heavier PSU from damaging the smaller and lighter parts during shipping. Upon opening up the smaller
of the two boxes, the 80mm fan is positioned above the CPU cooler accessories. During the course of this
review, I will be taking a look at each of the components separately.

Silent System 92mm fan 3-pin header
|
|
The Silent System 92mm fan is two toned blue and is labeled with the FSP logo and part number. The fan
itself did not come with a stock fan grill to keep small objects out of the spinning blades. The speed
of the fan is dependant on the thermal diode (just above the logo on the right side), which adjusts the
speed according to the temperature of the surrounding air. The hotter the air gets, the faster the fan
spins to exhaust it. The Silent System 92mm fan can push up to 21.4 CFM of air, with a noise level of
upwards of 22.6 dBA. The fan obtains the power through a three pin power connector that connects to a
spare motherboard header. The fan does include a third wire which is useful for tracking RPM speeds
using application software such as Motherboard Monitor.
