As with the Silent System Fan and Silent CPU cooler, the Silent Power Supply is packaged in a plain
brown cardboard box to keep it from shifting during shipping. During my evaluation, I did notice
that the control knob attached to the PSU had broken through the packaging. The damage was not
significant enough to stop that function of the PSU from working correctly. Also included in the package
was a user’s manual, which on the front has a bald male who has an uncanny resemblance to Dr. Evil from
Austin Powers. The manual goes into detail about the power supply, but lacks any detail about the CPU
cooler installation. The system fan is fairly easy to install and most consumers shouldn’t have any
problems.

The Silent Power Supply measures 150mm x 140mm x 86mm, and comes in the same blue colour as the other
two fans. Consumers have a choice between selecting from the 350W or 300W model. The unit that was
sent in for review with this package was the 300W. The clear 120mm fan is located on the bottom of the
power supply, which will allow the hot air from the CPU cooler to exhaust easier in a more direct route.
Being a 120mm fan, it is surprisingly silent at a maximum noise level of 25 dBA. In the rear of the unit,
is the location of the fan control knob, 115/230V voltage switch, a standard ON/OFF switch and the AC
inlet plug. The fan control knob will speed up or slow down the fan rotation speed, depending on the consumer
requirements.

There is a fair amount of wiring, as with most power supplies, but none of it was loomed. Closer inspection
revealed that each of the connectors was interwoven amongst each other, making it difficult to separate
each PSU cable.

The Silent Power Supply has the standard main motherboard connector and a +12 volt motherboard power
connector which is crucial for supplying the extra power needed for the optional motherboard power
connectors. The motherboard power connectors supply the motherboard with 12 volts to aid in powering
processor chips, most notably, the Pentium 4. Also included is a Serial ATA power connector, and finally
an auxiliary power connector. One of features that I did like about this unit was the solution that
the FSP Group used on each Molex connector. The blue ends have two flaps folded towards the end, which,
if one squeezes the flaps, will remove the power connector from the device. This is handy for any situation
where it’s difficult to remove a Molex connector from the back of a computer device. Finally, there is
one smaller power connector, which is most commonly used on floppy drives.
