Out of the box, the Samsung SyncMaster 192T TFT-LCD monitor looks aesthetically pleasing, combining silver and black highlights for the entire unit. Samsung Canada is marketing this particular unit as part of their high-end range of consumer TFT-LCD monitors. The SyncMaster 192T measures approximately 17" (W) x 8.7" (D) x 17.6 (H) and has a maximum resolution of 1280 x 1024. The LCD has a total viewable image size of 19 inches with a pixel pitch of 0.3mm and response time of 25 ms.

One of the nice aspects of the Samsung SyncMaster 192T TFT-LCD Monitor is that the unit itself has been designed to be low profile and very compact as seen when placed on the flat surface of a table. The design of the 192T moves away from a traditional metal bezel to support the weight of the unit in favour of a smaller retractable monitor stand. The adjustable stand retracts with a click of a button, folding out from behind the unit allowing the display area of 192T to be moved upward and adjusted to a preferred viewing height which can be positioned 170 degrees.

The retractable stand is attached to a silver base which provides support for the bottom portion of the 192T and keeps this unit stationary when place on a flat surface. At the rear of the unit are three accessible ports which include a 15-pin VGA connection, DVI (Digital Visual Interface), connection and a power connector. I was pleased to see the inclusion of a DVI port since this re-enforces the ideal of using this product in a dual monitor configuration.

At the bottom of the Samsung SyncMaster 192 TFT-LCD Monitor are two sets of integrated 1.5W speakers located on the left and right hand sides. The speakers are powered by an internal stereo amplifier and provide a decent level of sound which is perfect for standard applications and everyday use. If you are into high performance gaming or want higher sound quality to compliment watching a movie or TV, it is recommended to use an alternative sound source. For consumers who wish to use this monitor but keep the noise level to a minimum, Samsung has added an Audio in port, Headphone and a Volume Control knob on the left hand side of the 192T.
