All the necessary motherboard pin headers come neatly bundled to a detachable clip which eliminates the need to
re-connect all the headers when removing or installing the motherboard tray. The front USB cables are designed
to plug directly to the onboard USB headers of a motherboard. The IEEE 1394 uses a standard plug that can be
passed through an opening at the rear and directly into an available IEEE 1394 header. Mounting screws, standoffs,
and zip ties are all neatly divided into their own separate bags.

Similar to the rear, the dual front intake vents are also stamped. Users may wish to remove this pattern in order
to enhance airflow. The KT424-BK comes equipped with a washable plastic filter in order to minimize dust intake
into the case. The filter is constructed from a durable mesh that can be cleaned in warm soapy water. This is a
nice addition as the large front intake vent is highly susceptible to dust intake when the tower is placed on
the floor.

In order to test the drive rail system, I installed a spare LG 16X DVD ROM with ease. With the lock button pushed
down, the drive is easily secured and will not budge during transportation despite the mounting mechanism being
located only on one side. For greater piece of mind, there are a set of two mounting holes on the right side of
the chassis that will allow users to further secure the drive in place. The tool-less mounting system is ideal
for those who swap out drives frequently and minimizes system build times.

A set of thumbscrews are located on the front chassis and right hand side of the case to secure each drive bay
in place. Users wishing to use the spare drive bays to stealth their optical drives will be required to do some
additional modifications in order for the bay to attach flat to the drive. Installation of 5.25" based fan
controllers and short length devices may pose some minor issues.

Conclusion:
Overall, the Kingwin KT424-BK Aluminum is an excellent budget oriented aluminum chassis solution. The 2mm brushed aluminum
alloy provide with chic aesthetics and also give the Kingwin KT424-BK a greater cooling performance when compare
to rival steel models. The exterior is very well designed and offers many modification possibilities that will
appeal to case modders. A pre-modified version is also available for those lacking the tools or skills necessary
to modify their own cases. The use of thumbscrews throughout paired with the push in drive mounting system allow
for an almost entirely tool-free design. The stock cooling options are rather good with the exception of the
stamped grills and pressurized airflow due to the single exhaust. The interior structure is well laid out is
capable of accommodating most users configurations with ease. With additional features such as front USB and IEEE
1394, built in fan controller, removable filter and vibration canceling hard drive mounting cage, the Kingwin
KT424-BK Aluminum Case carries features that will appeal to almost anyone. I did encounter some minor annoyances
during the evaluation process such as the flimsy front door which conceals the USB and IEEE 1394 ports. Constant
removal of the bezel in order to install drives or adjust fan speed does become tedious. Installation of smaller
fan controllers presented a minor issue in which the unit would not fully clip into place. Drilling additional
holes into the mounting bracket would eliminate this issue but shouldn’t be necessary. The stamped fan grills do
slightly hamper airflow but allow for respectable performance none the less. Lastly, I did note some very minor
fluctuation of the chassis and removable motherboard tray when completely empty, granted this is a budget-oriented
model, certain shortcomings are to be expected. Aside from a few minor issues, I’m rating the Kingwin KT424-BK
Aluminum Case a 8.5 out of 10. I would recommend this
product to any consumer seeking an affordably priced, feature full, aesthetically pleasing aluminum case. If you
