The Bytecc Aluminum 3.5" HDD Mobile Enclosure includes a PCB controller board that provides the power and interface from 40-pin IDE to USB 2.0 along with the On/Off switch. There are 6 regular sized hard drive screws and 6 very small screws used to secure the enclosures bezels.

The rear bezel portion of the bezel includes ON/OFF, DC Jack and USB 2.0 port cutouts and is constructed from well-made silver coloured plastic that completely matches the enclosure. Installation was a breeze; the only tool needed was a screwdriver and some small clippers.

The first step is to connect the Molex and 40-pin IDE connector of the PCB controller board to the respective ports on the hard drive. For testing purposes, I will be using a Maxtor 4GB 5200 RPM drive that I’ve had lying around for ages. I ran into an issue where the zip tie holding the Molex power connector to the PCB board didn’t allow it to fit properly into the enclosure. After cutting the zip tie with the clippers, I was able to fit the hard drive and PCB controller properly into the enclosure.
