MODTHEBOX would like to thank Jeffrey from Nikao/Tradex Information Technology Incorporation for sending the Aerocool DP-101 Deep Impact Heatsink for review.

Nikao

Introduction:

Typically the majority of air cooling solutions conform to a common design, structure and technology with very few offering anything out of the norm. The inclusion of heatpipe technology onto heatsinks was a notable advancement and proved to deliver greater performance. Aerocool, manufacturer of cases, power supplies and cooling solutions has developed a unique cooling solution which offers a different approach to CPU cooling paired with silent performance. Today in MTB Labs, we will be evaluating the Aerocool DP-101 Deep Impact Heatsink.

Specifications:

The Aerocool DP-101 Deep Impact Heatsink is designed for the Socket A 462 platform that supports Athlon XP, Thunderbird and Duron processors. The Aerocool DP-101 is designed to bring quality cooling and decreased noise levels for up to Athlon XP 3400+ speeds via a Superconductor Tube and aluminum fins. Here are some specifications taken directly from the Tradex and Aerocool websites:

The Aerocool DP-101 Deep Impact Heatsink ships in a retail plastic packaging with the Aerocool logo printed throughout. Product specifications can be found at the side of the packaging. The unit itself is secured in a cardboard sleeve. Included in the packaging are all the necessary items needed for installation which consist of the Aerocool DP-101 Deep Impact Heatsink, 60mm fan, instruction sheet and mounting screws. Absent from the package is any form of generic thermal compound which comes standard with most cooling solutions.

The Aerocool DP-101 takes on a slightly different appearance than most heatinks with the orientation being vertical. A large copper super conductor tube runs the height of the unit and directly into the base. The premise behind the copper superconductor thermal tube is to absorb heat which is then dissipated into the aluminum fins and pushed away via an attached fan. A variety of liquid compounds are sealed inside the superconductor tube and works similar to the heatpipe technology (liquid to gas back to liquid) found on other units.
