MODTHEBOX would like to thank Helen from Yeong Yang Technology
for providing the YY-W201 Pedestal Server Chassis for review.
Introduction:
The deployment of multiple workstations on a small or medium sized network often creates unique
challenges for administrators looking to centralize a server solution. A server is a critical component
for most businesses acting as a hub of the entire network. Most server solutions are responsible for
a wide variety of tasks which include offering large amounts of storage capacity, network authorization,
print services, Internet access, mail services, web services, database, application use and
security. While budget minded consumers can use practically any mid-tower or full-tower case as a server
solution, there are a few manufacturers that have developed scalable high-end server cases. Yeong Yang
Technology based out of Taiwan has taken an alternative approach to the server market by releasing a
series of high-end server solutions market under the Pedestal Server Chassis product line. Today in the
MTB Labs, we will be taking a look at the latest product offering from Yeong Yang Technology, the
YY-W201 Pedestal Server Chassis.
Specifications:
The YY-W201 Pedestal Server Chassis is one of many server based cases offered by Yeong Yang Technology
and comes complete with all the functionality found in rival models. The specifications of the YY-W201
are similar to that of your typical rack mount case and are generally suited for consumers looking for
a complete high-end server solution. The YY-W201 is available in two different colour formats; standard
black/grey and beige. Here are some of the case specifications taken directly from the Yeong Yang

The Yeong Yang YY-W201 Pedestal Server Chassis was shipped directly from the Taiwan Headquarters and
arrived in a standard double-walled corrugated cardboard box. The package was slightly heavy weighting
in at 30 lbs and had product and company logos located around the base of the package. Upon opening up
the box, the case is sealed with protective plastic and secured by two pieces of polystyrene located
on the top and bottom. The package includes a well written 15 page product reference sheet which
provides a summarized feature list, case specifications and pictures of alternative configuration
options and add-on modules.

Out of the box, my first impressions of the Yeong Yang YY-W201 Pedestal Server Chassis were very
positive. The YY-W201 measures approximately 200mm (W) x 600mm (D) x 427mm (H) and supports all ATX
and Extended ATX motherboards. The entire exterior has been painted jet black with dark grey highlights.
The front bezel has a great futuristic type look that is replicated from the top portion of the bezel
to the bottom. The composition of the YY-W201 is made up of a solid Steel chassis combined with
recycled flame retardant plastic parts. The YY-W201 includes a 550w PSU, which should be suitable for
most consumers needs. Also included in the package were an assortment of drive rails, motherboard
standoffs and mounting screws.
