Towards the right hand side of the motherboard resides the BIOS, Silicon Image Sil3114 SATA controller
and headers, I/O chip, Media Communications Processor-Turbo (MCP-T) and floppy drive connector. The
Media and Communications Processor Turbo is responsible for IEEE 1394a/Firewire, USB 2.0, LAN, Ultra ATA133
communication along with the integrated Audio Processing unit (APU) for real-time Dolby Digital 3D (AC3)
encoding. A small passive aluminum heatsink has been implemented to aid in heat dissipation for both
normal and overclocked conditions.

With a total of 4 Serial ATA headers, the Silicon Image Sil3112A RAID controller is capable of delivering
disk striping RAID 0, disk mirroring RAID 1 and RAID 0+1 configurations. All four headers are neatly
located at the right edge of the DFI LanParty NFII Ultra B Motherboard. The manual states that all four
headers may be used for normal SATA hard drive operation when not in a RAID array. The BIOS chip resides
slightly above the Serial ATA headers followed by a Winbond W832627F I/O controller. A series of neatly
labeled pin headers necessary for hard disk activity LEDs and power/reset switches are located along the
bottom edge of the board. One unique feature DFI has implemented is dubbed EZ Touch, these additional
onboard power and reset switches simplify the testing process and is an excellent addition that will
appeal to enthusiasts who work with open air test beds frequently.

Two Ultra ATA33/66/100/133 IDE connectors are located towards the upper right edge of the motherboard
for a total support of 4 IDE based optical or hard drives. The DFI LanParty NFII Ultra B Motherboard can
support a maximum of 3GB of DDR 266/333/400 memory across three 184-pin DIMM sockets. Placing memory in
DIMM 1 and 3 or 2 and 3 will automatically enable the dual channel memory function. Both the IDE and
DIMM sockets are neon in color and UV reactive. A single ultra bright DIMM power LED is located in-between
DIMM 2 and 3.
