The Install Wizard will display the status of the installation as it copies the files to the hard drive. Once complete, a screen appears and prompts the user to select the remote that came in the package. This selection is very important since the application software will load the optimum set of commands that correspond to that specific remote.

Once the software installation is completed, the next step is to plug the iMON into any spare USB port. The Found New Hardware Wizard will appear and provide the opportunity to install the application drivers from the iMON software CD.

The main interface for the iMON Universal IR Remote Control Device is the iMON Manager which allows you to setup the various button functions. There are pre-defined configurations for various applications such as Winamp. Once you select "Go To Tray", a small icon will appear in the system tray. There is also a larger icon known as the iMON Indicator. The iMON Indicator can be placed anywhere on the desktop and takes only 5% of the CPU time. The iMON Indicator will change colour depending on function from volume level to switching between keyboard function and mouse. I did notice that the iMON Indicator would change to red when I would switch channels on my television using the TV’s own remote.
