Introduction:
CPU coolers have experienced radical changes over the past few years with new technologies increasing
overall performance. One key element that has remained consistent in CPU design is the use of ball and
sleeve bearing fans. While standard fans do provide adequate cooling, the actual design of the fan
creates an airflow "dead zone" immediately below the center of the fan, due to the mounting of the
fan’s motor. Earlier last year, Vantec released its first revision to their CPU cooler product line with
the introduction of the AeroFlow CPU Heatsink. The AeroFlow incorporated a tip-magnetic driving fan which
after extended use caused reported performance issues. After re-evaluating the original product design,
Vantec has gone back to the drawing board with a revision on the AeroFlow. Today in the MTB Labs, we will
be evaluating the new AeroFlow 2 VP4-7245 Heatsink, a premium CPU cooling product designed for the Intel
P4 platform.
Specifications:
The AeroFlow 2 VP4-7245 Heatsink combines a standard 70mm ball bearing fan with unique heatsink design.
Incorporating a solid copper core surrounded by an aluminum fin design, it is engineered for maximum airflow

The Vantec AeroFlow 2 VP4-7245 Heatsink product ships in clear retail packaging with the new 70mm cooling
fan taking centre stage. The Vantec colour scheme and logo grace the packaging along with a small list
of key features towards the bottom. The rear portion of the package shows the advantage of Aeroflow
Technology and displays a small layout of the fins relative to the base of the heatsink.

Included with the product itself are an illustrated installation guide, P4 mounting clips and a syringe
of generic thermal compound. Out of the packaging, the Vantec AeroFlow 2 VP4-7245 Heatsink measures
approximately 89.5mm x 71.5mm x 72.9mm and weighs 472g. The new AeroFlow 2 is almost an exact replica of the
original AeroFlow design with the exception of a new 70mm ball bearing fan replacing the original TMD
Fan. Vantec is specifically marketing this product as one of the best price/performance heatsinks
currently on the market.
