MODTHEBOX would like to thank Jens from Xice
for providing the Xice ExternalCool EC900/H Kit for review.
Introduction:
Water cooled systems provide an alternative for consumers looking to combine silent operation with
cooling performance. The current water cooling market is saturated with products that allow any
individual to transition easily from air based cooling. There are currently pre-assembled kits, DIY
kits and External Water Cooling Systems that all operate on the same basic principles. The advantage
of an external mounted water cooling system is the ability to separate the mechanics of a unit from
critical system components as well as address space limitation issues. Xice based out of Germany is
a relatively new player to the North American market specializing in water cooling systems for PC.
The company has recently launched its flagship product marketed under the brand name of ExternalCool.
Today in the MTB Labs, we will be taking an extensive look at the Xice ExternalCool EC900/H Kit, a
self contained cooling system designed for the AMD and Intel platform.
Specifications:
The Xice ExternalCool EC900/H Kit consists of various components that can be assembled together to form a
complete water cooling system. The kit requires some mild assembly and includes all the necessary components
for installation. Here are some of the specifications taken directly from the Xice website:

The Xice ExternalCool EC900/H Kit comes complete with extensive documentation that includes 5 different
user manuals. The manuals cover in detail each component of the EC900 from the external unit to the xgk
GPU Heatsink. The kit includes a set of reference diagrams that compliment each instruction and provide
a step by step procedure of the installation process. To simplify the process of connecting the various
components together, Xice has bundled 200 cm's worth of tubing. The bundled tubing provides a good
indication that this particular kit is not designed for high level flow rates. Instead the tubing has an
inner diameter of 6mm, which is small enough to fit over the compression nut fittings.
