Out of the box the SST-TJ02 Glacier Mid-Tower Case is very well constructed and follows the same design principles as the higher-end Nimiz SST-TJ03 Aluminum Case that MTB reviewed in April 2004. SilverStone is marketing the SST-TJ02 as a budget case with a good focus on tool-less key entry using a unique drive rail system and thumbscrews. The case measures approximately 216mm (W) x 446mm (H) x 472mm (D) and is slightly heavy at 9.2kg. The front bezel design of the SST-TJ02 is fantastic consisting of brushed aluminum, alloy, bevelled edges and silver mirror coating on the steel chassis. SilverStone continues to use simplistic design techniques eliminating the need for pre-modified case options and fancy gimmicks. The SST-TJ02 supports all mATX and Full ATX motherboard formats and does not ship with an included PSU. Consumers have the option of selecting from SilverStone's SST PSU models which range from 300W to 460W. During my inspection of the case, I did note that it did not escape the wraith of UPS during shipping. Located on the right side panel were two large sized dents as well as some minor paint damage.

The front bezel of the SST-TJ02 Glacier Mid-Tower Case features four external 5.25" drive bay slots that can handle any type of computer component installation. All the bay covers are manufactured out of brushed aluminum and sport the same texture as the front bezel. The surface of each drive bay cover is perfectly flat and suitable for mounting existing pre-made devices such as LCD's, monitoring devices, mobile racks or fan controllers. Underneath the external 5.25" drive bays are two accessible external 3.5" drive bay slots, which are suitable for mounting floppy devices or media card readers.

The middle portion of the case features countersunk Power and Reset buttons as well as Power and HD activity LED's. The Power and Reset buttons are crafted and polished from solid aluminum blocks and feature chrome-like rings that are created meticulously with an expensive diamond cutting process. This feature is standard on all the SilverStone Temjin and Lascala series of cases.
