MODTHEBOX would like to thank Roy from VL System
for sending the Touch One Switch for review.
Introduction:
Convenience has always been a major factor for adding new components and gadgets to any existing computer
system. The idea behind a system upgrade is to add in devices which simplify the process of day to day
computing needs. It is not surprising that manufactures have recently re-developed practical ideas that are
used in the consumer market and applied them to new product offerings. A few months ago MTB showcased a revision
of the popular L.I.S 2 Blue Eye LCD from VL System. The company has been busy over the past few months
and has recently introduced a brand new product developed for powering a computer system. Today in the MTB Labs,
we will be evaluating the VL System Touch One Switch; a product designed to power a computer system on and off
with the touch of a button.
Specifications:
The VL System Touch One uses a touch sensitive switch and is designed to manage the power on/off feature of a
standard computer system. Here are some specifications taken from the VL System website:

Once the kit is taken out of the package, we can get a sense of the parts that are required to install the Touch One Switch.
The Touch One controller is similar to a standard PCI or ISA card, except it doesn’t mount into the motherboard. On the
controller are three connectors. The white one in the upper left in the picture connects the controller to the power input
cable. The four pins on the top right connect to the power switch and the power switch motherboard connector.

The power input cable measures 51 cm and is meant to be pushed into the back of the 20-pin power connector. This
is specifically so the black wire is at pin 7 (black, ground) and the purple is at pin 9 (+5 volt, purple). The
main part of the Touch One Switch, of course is the switch itself. The switch features a polished steel cap secured
onto a clear plastic base. Inside the base is a small 3mm blue LED which will light up the bottom of the unit. The
other end of the cable is similar to a stereo audio jack, which will work very well for power.
