Introduction:
The use of precise settings and configurations when overclocking allows for each piece of hardware within a computer to be
tailored for maximum performance levels. With the latest release of revised memory frequencies from several manufactures,
consumers are able wreak the benefits of enhanced bandwidth and maximize their current hardware performance through new
memory offerings at low latency operation. Corsair has been supporting the special demands of mission-critical servers,
high-end workstations, and gaming machines since 1994. Today in MTB Labs, we will be evaluating a second low latency memory
configuration in the form of the Corsair XMS 3200 XL Pro Low Latency Memory Kit.
Specifications:
The Corsair XMS 3200 XL Pro Low Latency Memory Kit is readily available from the Corsair website in a variety of packages
ranging from 256MB to 1GB kits in both the standard black heat spreader and the Pro LED series. The Ultra Low Latency speeds
are currently restricted to the PC3200 frequency only and are denoted with the XL name. The Corsair XMS 3200 XL Pro Low
Latency Memory Kit consists of two 512MB modules for a combined capacity of 1GB designed for use on dual channel architecture
such as the NVIDIA nForce 2/3 and Intel i865/i875P platforms. The Corsair XMS 3200 XL Pro Low Latency Memory Kit includes
unique features such as Plug-n-Frag technology paired with 18 independent memory activity LED’s. Here are some specifications

The Corsair XMS 3200 XL PRO Low Latency Memory Kit arrived in fully retail branded clear plastic blister package
showcasing the modules. Supporting product features and the Corsair logo can be found throughout the front of the
packaging sleeve. The rear portion lists several industry awards and quotations from a variety of reputable
enthusiast and hardware websites. A dual page reference sheet is included and outlines information regarding
proper installation procedure in five different languages.

Out of the packaging, my initial impressions of the Corsair XMS 3200 XL PRO Low Latency Memory Kit modules were very
positive. The Corsair XMS 3200 XL PRO Low Latency Memory Kit is the latest addition to the Corsair family and based
upon the existing Pro series previously reviewed here. As previously stated, users have the option of purchasing the
XL modules in two packaging options; the PRO series or the standard modules which incorporate the basic heat spreader.
The Corsair XMS 3200 XL PRO Low Latency Memory Kit contains a combined capacity of 1GB spanned across two 512MB modules
rated for an operating speed of 200MHz DDR or PC3200. The Corsair XMS 3200 XL PRO Low Latency Memory Kit is designed
to run at an enhanced latency of 2-2-2-2-5 with an operating voltage of 2.7V. The five-digit number represents the
CAS Latency, RAS-to-CAS Delay, RAS Precharge Act-to-Precharge Delay and Command Rate values respectively. The revised
timings mark the currently most aggressive available and are designed to enhance memory bandwidth. Some minor research
revealed that the Corsair XMS 3200 XL PRO Low Latency Memory modules are using Samsung based IC’s which rival the long
outdated Winbond BH-5 modules which were known to run very aggressive timings at high frequencies.
