One of the key features of the Samsung Yepp YP-780V is the blue backlit LCD display that is responsible
for providing current information at a glance. Upon powering of the unit, consumers will be greeted with
a small-animated Yepp splash screen after which the display switches to the three main menu options.
Consumers can toggle between the music mode, voice recording and FM tuning. The backlit feature
lasts approximately 10 seconds after which it’s turned off until a button is pressed. The expanded
menu mode allows consumers to configure options for play mode, EQ adjustment, folder play, file management
and Yepp settings.

The Samsung Yepp YP-780V MP3 Player features a display menu which allows consumers to adjust back light,
contrast and scroll speed settings. The equalizer menu is very impressive and supports SRS 3-D, TruBass
and SRS WOW technologies.

In play mode is where the Yepp YP-780V really shines and the SRS (Sound Retrieval System) brings the
options of 4 sound altering effects to your music. When SRS is selected, you will hear 3D stereo sound.
The TruBass option adds a bass boost which adds to the fullness of the sound. The SRS WOW feature allows
you to combine SRS and Trubass simultaneously. Lastly, the EQ option will play the last equalizer settings
from either custom set, Rock, Jazz, Classical or Normal modes. The enhanced audio effects come down to
personal preference and results will vary depending on volume and music type. In the FM tuner mode, I
was able to randomly scan for active FM channels or create a custom selection of my own personal favourite
radio stations. During my evaluaton, I was able to tune in Toronto's Flow 93.5
Urban Radio Station in good clarity and volume.

Conclusion:
The Samsung Yepp YP-780V MP3 Player is a well constructed, versatile and efficient portable media solution. The small
form factor allows for easy travel and to be put just about anywhere including a belt and around the neck thanks to
the included accessories. The MP3, WMA and WAV formats combined with the Flash Media and similar storage
technologies are rapidly growing and the Samsung Yepp YP-780V is a welcome contender. The overall ease
of use is excellent requiring a simple drag and drop to transfer music. The Blue backlit LCD is ideal
for low-lit environments and displays a wealth of information on a single screen. Music buffs will
appreciate the ability to switch between their favourite songs and radio stations. While the YP-780V
MP3 Player excels, there were only a few negative aspects that I will comment on. The bundled ear phones
pail in comparison to real high quality headphones that can be purchased elsewhere. I would recommend
swapping out the headsets if you plan on using this unit on a daily basis. The YP-780V does provide
USB support but it would be nice to see USB 2.0 support added to speed up the transfer process. Finally,
I wish that the unit didn't rely so much on the software application in order to transfer music
files to and from the unit. Overall, I really enjoyed using the Samsung Yepp YP-780V MP3 Player and
award a final rating of 8.5 out of 10. If
