Several products are readily available which attempt to cater to this situation yet often times lack a specific feature requiring the implementation of multiple devices. Today in MTB Labs we will be evaluating the Enermax UC-9FATR2 Multifunction Panel; a product designed to incorporate the utmost level of functionality.

Specifications:

The Enermax UC-9FATR2 Multifunction Panel is currently the prestige offering for its product line manufactured by Enermax. Additional colours are available in either Silver or Black. The Enermax UC-9FATR2 Multifunction Panel is a 5.25" based unit designed to incorporate maximum functionality in the form of four card readers, fan control, USB, IEEE 1394, SATA and more. The Enermax UC-9FATR2 Multifunction Panel arrived in colorful cardboard packaging with the Enermax logo branded throughout. Product specifications along with a clear product shot are neatly listed towards the rear portion. Two pieces of polystyrene keep the unit and a variety of accessories in place. A small printed user manual along with a CD containing the necessary drivers outlines proper installation procedures.

Given the high level of functionality brought by the Enermax UC-9FATR2 Multifunction Panel, a large variety of cables has been bundled in the package. In order to connect fans, a series of 3-pin header cables are included. A PCI backing plate along with zip ties is used to easily route the appropriate cables and promote effective cable management. Two Serial ATA 150 cables are included for connecting external devices.

The Enermax UC-9FATR2 Multifunction Panel is designed to accommodate two USB ports and a single IEEE 1394 port which can be used to connect common peripherals, scanners, digital cameras and more. Both the USB and IEEE 1394 cables are designed to connect to external I/O ports and will require to be routed out the rear of the case.
