Out of the box, the SilverStone SST-ST30NF Aluminum Power Supply has an aesthetically pleasing design. The exterior of the PSU has been encased in a silver aluminum chassis with the SilverStone name engraved on the side. The thick aluminum chassis has small fins incorporated into the design, which allows this unit to act as a heatsink and provide additional cooling for the PSU. The unit measures approximately 150mm (W) x 140mm (L) x 86mm (H) and is slightly heavier at 2.8kg than most steel based power supplies on the market. The SilverStone SST-ST30NF Aluminum Power Supply includes a few built-in features, which include Over Current Protection (OCP), Over Temperature Protection (OTP) and Over Power Protection (OPP). These features are designed to safe guard any components that are attached to this unit and is comparable to surge protection found on most standard power bar strips.

As previously mentioned, the SST-ST30NF represents a fan less power supply unit which uses aerodynamic technology for the best thermal performance and low acoustics. The front portion of the unit includes a series of ventilation holes that draw cool air into the unit when placed inside a well ventilated case. The right side portion of the unit includes a simple product specification guide which provides detailed information on the rated amperage and voltage across each of the wired PSU lines

The rear portion of the SilverStone SST-ST30NF Aluminum Power Supply has all the standard features found on most PSU units. Towards the left hand side is a two position rocker switch (ON/OFF), an AC plug connector and dual LED Indicators. The dual LEDs work in tandem providing a visual indication for both Power and Temperature ratings. The Temperature LED operates in two states (Red High > or = 55°C and Green Low < 55°C) while the Power LED provides the power supply's working status. When the Power LED is green the unit is in standby mode, when orange the unit is powered on and when red the unit has detected a power fault. Surprisingly, this unit did not include a secondary external AC 3-pin plug for powering additional AC devices. On the right hand side of the unit is another set of ventilation openings which exhaust hot air from the heatpipes.
