Introduction:
The rise in technology of today’s products allows manufacturers to engineer a much more compact and
efficient design with an emphasis on portability. In order to eliminate the need to carry multiple
devices, multi-function products have been developed allowing for a more enjoyable media experience
and workflow. This idea has been further enhanced by combining the use of solid state drives with
the ability to transfer digital media. Currently on the market there are several recognized
manufacturers that have developed high quality portable MP3 players with excellent performance and
warranty options. Ultra Products is a global, technology-solutions provider headquartered in Fletcher,
Ohio which offers a wide range of solutions, products, and services to resellers and end users
worldwide. The company has gained recognition with the introduction of several consumer products marketed
under the Ultra brand name. Today in the MTB Labs, we will be evaluating the new 256MB 8-in-1 MP3 Player
from Ultra Products.
Specifications:
The Ultra 256MB 8-in-1 MP3 Player is one of three models being offered on the Ultra Products website. The
Ultra MP3 player has been designed around maximum versatility and combines a variety of functions into
one unit. In addition to MP3 playback capability, additional features include 256MB onboard storage, FM
Tuner, Email functions, USB flash storage, Voice Recording, SD/MMC card reader and more. Here are some

The Ultra 256MB 8-in-1 MP3 Player ships in a retail branded clear blister package. A listing of product
specifications and highlights can be found on the rear flap. The Ultra 256MB 8-in-1 MP3 Player comes
complete with all the necessary items in order for basic operation. The contents of the packaging
revealed the Ultra 256MB 8-in-1 MP3 Player, ear buds, USB cable, driver disk and manual. The included
documentation outlines product layout, operational instructions, system requirements and more.

In order to be able to listen to music practically out of the packaging, a basic set of ear buds come
bundled with the Ultra 256MB 8-in-1 MP3 Player. Silver in color, the overall design a quality of the
ear buds is rather simple and the majority of users will prefer to replace these with their own
solutions. As a convenience, a simple string neck strap is included allowing for the ear buds to be
hung around your neck. The included USB cable is designed to be of use for those wishing to simplify
the installation of the Ultra 256MB 8-in-1 MP3 Player by extending the cables slightly for arms reach
eliminating having to reach behind the computer. This cable isn’t required for basic operation and can
be used at user’s discretion.

Out of the packaging, my initial impressions of the Ultra 256MB 8-in-1 MP3 Player was positive. The Ultra
256MB 8-in-1 MP3 Player is designed to combine a wealth of features to deliver an extremely versatile solution.
With support for MP3 playback, USB storage, Lyrics and ID3 tag display, voice recording, compact flash card reading,
FM tuner and email functions, the Ultra 256MB 8-in-1 MP3 Player caters to a wide variety of consumers. The exterior
portion is housed by a deep blue shell complete with silver accents and large display screen. Measuring 4.25" (L) x
0.75" (W) x 1.5" (H), the Ultra 256MB 8-in-1 MP3 Player boasts a compact design which can be stored almost anywhere.
A large LCD screen handles the display properties of the Ultra 256MB 8-in-1 MP3 Player. This screen is much larger
than rival MP3 players and features a blue backlit function for low-lit conditions.
