MODTHEBOX would like to thank Jeffrey from Tradex Information Technology Incorporation for sending the Sunbeam Transformer Mid-Tower Gaming Case for review.

Introduction:

A pre-modified computer case was a concept unheard of during the early years of case modification. Many case modders sourced out materials from local shops and developed methods which were shared by a large open community. Case modification is considered by most an art form of self expression which requires a certain level of skill and access to equipment and tools. For consumers who lack the skill or do not have access to tools, there has been a market developed by the case manufacturers where a stock computer case can be purchased with the modifications already intact. Last year MTB introduced our readers to Sunbeam Technology's new product line with a review of the Samurai Gaming Case. Recently the company has released its second pre-modified offering designed specifically for the modding and gaming community. Today in the MTB Labs, we will be evaluating Sunbeam Transformer Gaming Case, an all-in-one pre-modified solution.

The Sunbeam Transformer Mid-Tower Gaming Case is a pre-modified mid-tower case that incorporates several modifications and is available in two colour selections (Blue or Black). The Sunbeam Transformer Mid-Tower Gaming Case was shipped in a colourful blue and white double-walled corrugated box with the case manufacturer's logos and images printed on all sides. The packaging inside the box was good with the case sealed in protected plastic with two pieces of polystyrene located on the top and bottom of the package.

Out of the box, my first impressions of the Sunbeam Transformer Mid-Tower Gaming Case were positive. The entire construction of the case consists of a 0.8MM SECC steel chassis balanced with nice black paint job and white plastic highlights. The Sunbeam Transformer Mid-Tower Gaming Case measures approximately 480mm (L) x 205mm (W) x 522mm (H) and is a tad heavy at 34 lbs. The case supports all full ATX based motherboard formats with a maximum motherboard size of 12.50" x 10" or smaller. By default the case does not include a power supply as a stock option and consumers will be required to supply their own. The Sunbeam Transformer Mid-Tower Gaming Case includes a small assortment of accessories which includes metal PCI slot brackets, motherboard stand-offs, plastic drive rails, security keys, mounting screws, mini 4" Sunbeam cold cathode kit, case feet and an ATX I/O panel.
