The NV Silencer 3 is the latest VGA cooling solution developed by Arctic Cooling that is designed
for overclocking and noise control. The product measures approximately 218.5mm x 100mm x 32 mm
and weighs 322g. One of the highlights of the NV Silencer 3 is that is has been designed exclusively
for the NVIDIA 5900XT video card and features DHES (Direct Heat Exhaust System) Technology which
carries warm air from the GPU and exhausts it directly out the rear of the card.

The NV Silencer 3 is comprised of three components that work collectively to cool a GPU. The entire unit
is encased by a clear translucent plastic housing that surrounds an aluminum/copper heatsink and
cooling fan. The cooling fan resides towards the front of the unit and is positioned as an intake fan
to draw cool air from the case interior and blow it over the high quality aluminum heatsink. The base
of the unit consist of a 2.5mm thick Copper heatsink plate and a 1.9mm backing plate which is supported
by four mounting screws. The 72mm fan runs at 2000RPM and is connected to a 2-pin header that fits
conveniently on a NVIDIA 5900XT video card.

The process for installing the Arctic Cooling NV Silencer Revision 3 requires a series of steps that
can be completed in less than 30 minutes. For the purposes of this review, I will be using an Albatron
Gigi FX5900XTV 128MB video card. The first step is to remove the memory ramsinks and the stock GPU cooler
which is secured to the PCB board via two plastic clips. Once the stock cooler was removed, the remainder
of the previously applied thermal paste was wiped off and the GPU was cleaned with an Isopropyl alcohol wipe.
