MODTHEBOX would like to thank Anand from ADPmods
for sending the Arctic Cooling Freezer 4 Heatsink Cooler for review.
Introduction:
Optimum cooling performance for most standard computer systems tends to fall under one of two categories.
A manufacturer will either classify their heatsink product as a performance cooler or compensate for
performance by including a high performance cooling fan combined with a well designed heatsink base.
The later is the opposite direction and includes products created for silent cooling which include a
low profile fan and above average cooling performance. It is very rare when a manufacturer will combine
the best of both worlds and create a product that manages to provide both features in one product.
Arctic Cooling based out of Pfäffikon, Switzerland is a relatively new company to the North American
market. The company has recently released a series of cooling products marketed under the Freezer
brand name, which cover all aspects of CPU cooling. Today in the MTB Labs, we will be evaluating the
new Freezer 4 Heatsink Cooler, a product designed for low noise cooling environments.
Specifications:
The Freezer 4 Heatsink is an all-aluminum based cooler with four copper heat pipes compatible with
all Intel Celeron and Pentium 4 Socket 478 processors. The unit is designed to provide quiet
performance even at higher processor speeds, supporting chips running up to 3.0 GHz. Here are some of
the specifications taken directly from the ADPMods and Arctic Cooling websites:

The Arctic Cooling Freezer 4 Heatsink Cooler ships in a standard corrugated cardboard box and sports
an image of the cooler and the Arctic Cooling logo. The top portion of the package identifies the model
of CPU cooler and the processor rating. The left and right hand sides of the package include technical
specifications and a list of key features. Upon opening the box, the Freezer 4 is packaged inside a
plastic blister enclosure and includes a small tube of high performance MX-1 Thermal Compound.

Out of the box, the Arctic Cooling Freezer 4 Heatsink Cooler sports a unique design characteristic not
seen on rival heatsink cooler designs. The Freezer 4 measures approximately 92mm (L) x 72mm (W) x 120mm (H)
and comes equipped with a 77mm cooling fan rated at 32CFM @ 2200 RPM. The 77mm fan is held in place
with a custom fan holder that is able to practically eliminate the typical buzzing sound of 80mm fans.
The entire composition of the cooler consists of a heat exchanger that is made of forged aluminum with 40
cast fins that slowly peak at the middle to incorporate the bulk of the design. The heat exchanger
includes a surface area of over 5000 cm2 and allows for resistance free energy transfer to air.
