Introduction:
Case modders can be compared to conventional artists with the only difference being that computer
cases are used instead of a traditional paint canvas. Aesthetics play such an important role in
case modification and can often dictate success or failure in any project. Quite often, case
modders want to personalize and add specific touches to their cases to differentiate themselves
from the rest of the crowd. Manufacturers have noticed this particular trend and have started to
offer an assortment of easy to assemble kits that allow individual system components to be
customized. Neo Maxim Corp aka Razotech is a relatively new player to the case modification market
and have recently released a new product designed to add aesthetics to oridinary ram modules. Today
in the MTB Labs we will be evaluating the new Razotech Green Ram Mod Kit, an add-on lighting kit for
DIMM modules.

The Razotech Green Ram Mod Kit is all-inclusive kit that includes all the neccessary components for

The Razotech Green Ram Mod Kit arrived sealed in standard retail packaging that was re-enforced at both ends with
cardboard backing. The front portion of the package provides a visual of the light twinkling diodes while the
rear of the packing includes a small features list and information on the product colour selection.

The Razotech Green Ram Mod Kit includes an assortment of items which include the following:
1 x Light twinkling diodes strip
1 x PCI bracket with toggle switch
2 x Semi-transparent plastic clips
1 x Strip of double stick tape
1 x 6-32 mounting screw
1 x Blue plastic cap
A closer look at the light twinkling diodes reveals a series of LEDs that have been encased in a hard
acrylic shell. The diodes have been pre-programmed with a series of LED animated sequences that can be
toggled with a simple push button switch. A total of 8 pre-programmed LED sequences can be selected
depending on your personal preference. The diodes are powered by a 2-pin header that connects to a
2-pin to 4-pin adapter.

The specifications on the Razotech website indicate that the Green Ram Mod Kit is compatible with all types
of DIMM modules. To satisfy my curiosity I grabbed two types of RAM modules to see how versatile this kit
would be during a mock installation. I was able to fit the semi-transparent plastic clips over a single OCZ
PC4000 module which means that this kit will work on some units encased with heat spreaders. RAM modules that
use thicker heat spreaders such as a few of the Corsair XMS Pro branded modules will not work.
