The Razotech Green Ram Mod Kit does not come packaged with a set of instructions but the installation process is very simple. Razotech does provide online instructions if you find yourself having difficulty assembling the kit together. The first step is to apply the adhesive strip to the back of the light twinkling diodes. The next step is to align the two semi-transparent clips on either side of the ram module. Once the semi-transparent clips have been positioned on the left and right side of the RAM module; the final step to install the light twinkling diodes on top of the clips. I did note after the installation was completed that the adhesive strip created a strong bond between the diodes and the plastic clips.

To complete the installation the final step is to install the RAM module into any free DIMM slot and then secure the bundled PCI bracket. I did note during this phase of the installation that the toggle switch was installed backwards with the switch facing inside the case instead of the outside. To correct this problem all that was needed was a pair of pliers and one minute worth of work. The PCI bracket is secured using the 6-32 screw and the remainder of the wires is plugged into the diodes and a free 4-pin Molex connector.

Once a system is powered, consumers will be treated to an animated LED display that does provide a good amount of illumination inside a case interior. The LED diodes are very bright and run various "Knight Rider" style chase sequences that can be toggled at a push of a button. I have included a 30 second video of the Razotech Green Ram Mod Kit in action to give you a visual idea of how this product works.

Conclusion:

The Razotech Green Ram Mod Kit does prove that little things do come in small packages. The potential for this product to be used in various case modification projects is unlimited. By far the best benefit of this product is the ability to add a "bling" factor to ordinary RAM modules as well as toggle between 8 different pre-programmed animated LED sequences. The overall installation is quite painless and can be completed in less than 5 minutes which makes this product practical for the novice or experienced modder. The only downside that I found with this product is that it’s more of an accessory rather than a must have item. Add in the fact that each Ram Mod Kit costs $13 (U.S) / $15 (CDN) means that you will have to double the price in order to cover two RAM modules and at the same time lose 2 PCI slots. Smart modders can get around this problem by losing one of the PCI brackets and simply drill an additional hole into one of the PCI brackets to hold 2 switches. Overall, I'm rating the Razotech Green Ram Mod Kit a final rating of 7.5 out of 10 and would definitely recommend this kit for those individuals who want an unique product to add to their modified computer case. If you have any questions regarding this review be sure to visit the Razotech website for more information or discuss them in our forums.
