Introduction:
The bar has been raised when addressing the power requirements for the average computer user. In the past,
where a strong emphasis was placed on wattage, consumers now have a variety of different options available
to now consider. New revolutionary power supply units have now been complimented by aesthetically pleasing
designs, professional sleeving, EZ Grip Molex connectors, laser cut fan grills, acrylic window kits and
easy to use modular cables. Since 1998, Tradex Information Technology has been the sole distributor Nikao brand
cases in North America. The company has changed direction in the style and detailing of their product
line with the release of Nikao branded power supply units. Today in the MTB Labs, we will be evaluating
the Nikao ALIEN P4-520W & ICE P4-450W Power Supply, two products that offer high performance and a
unique list of features.
Specifications:
The Nikao ALIEN P4-520W & ICE P4-450W Power Supplies is two of three different units available on the
Tradex Information Technology website. The ALIEN P4-520W is a higher end model that uses 520 watts by
default. The other two models are the ALIEN P4-470W and ICE P4-450W, which available in 470 watts and 450
watt configurations. All Nikao branded power supplies comply with UL, CSA, TUV, CB, CE, S, N, D, FI,

The Nikao ALIEN P4-520W & ICE P4-450W Power Supplies arrived in colourful boxed retail packaging with
manufacturer's logos and images printed on all of the sides. The back portion of the packaging includes
product specifications and industry regulation standards. The packaging inside the box was good with
both units placed between two formed pieces of polystyrene and enclosed in a sealed protective plastic
bag.

Out of the box, the Nikao ALIEN P4-520W & ICE P4-450W both have an aesthetically pleasing design
enhanced by an exterior encased in titanium grey and silver colours. The titanium grey exterior of
the ALIEN P4-520W is complimented with a laser cut alien head fan grill while the ICE P4-450W uses
a standard 120mm wire grill. The highlight for both packages is the inclusion of 80mm and 120mm ball
bearing LED fans which are connected to a rheostat switch for controlling fan speed levels. Both
packages include a complimentary power cable but are missing a few essentials such as a reference manual
and mounting screws. The Nikao ALIEN P4-520W & ICE P4-450W include some unique built-in features which
include Short Circuit, Over Voltage and Over Current Protection. These features are designed to safe
guard any components that are attached to each unit and is comparable to surge protection found on most
standard power bar strips.
