MODTHEBOX would like to thank SilverStone Technology
for sending the SilverStone Lascala SST-LC13 HTPC Case for review.
Introduction:
The digital revolution has moved at a rapid fire pace by introducing new technological advances that
are surpassing old legacy applications. A few years ago the VCR or Video Cassette Recorder was state of
the art providing consumers an alternative method to record televised media. Fast forward to the
present and multimedia standards have changed evolving into a new digital medium. The PVR or HTPC
is now common place and consumers now have a variety of different options to enjoy the full multimedia experience.
While commercial versions of PVR's and HTPC's are now available, SilverStone Technology has been at the
forefront by developing a unique product line of HTPC style chassis for consumers who want to custom build
their own units. Today in the MTB Labs, we will be evaluating the Lascala SST-LC13, a brand new HTPC style
enclosure developed by SilverStone Technology.
Specifications:
The Lascala SST-LC13 HTPC Case is one of fourteen different units available on the SilverStone Technology
website. Consumers have the option of selecting from two different colour formats (black and silver) as
well as two different model designs. The Lascala SST-LC13 HTPC Case comes pre-assembled and only supports
both mATX and ATX motherboard formats. Here are some specifications taken directly from the SilverStone Technology
website:

The SilverStone Lascala SST-LC13 HTPC Case arrived in boxed cardboard packaging with a black identification
labeling on the sides. The cardboard box resembled that of electronic component packaging used home
electronics and stereo equipment. The case was sealed in protected plastic with 2 pieces of cardboard
backing and polystyrene located on the top and bottom of the unit.

The SilverStone Lascala SST-LC13 HTPC Case was bundled with an assortment of accessories which include
mounting screws, motherboard stand-offs, zip ties, power cable and a 3-pin to 4-pin fan adapter. A fold
out installation manual provides step by step assembly of the case including motherboard, fan mounts,
and system components. My first impressions of the SilverStone Lascala SST-LC13 HTPC Case after removing
the packaging were extremely positive. SilverStone has taken a very simplistic contemporary approach to designing
the SST-LC13 while maintaining the same high level of detail and craftsmanship seen on most Lascala HTPC
cases. The SST-LC13 carries a large footprint measuring 430mm (W) x 163mm (H) x 430mm (D) with a weight
of 9kg. The entire composition of the case has been designed using a custom aluminum front panel with a 0.8mm
SECC body. The main focus for the SST-LC13 is the single piece front bezel design and support for mATX,
ATX and Extended ATX motherboard formats.
