Introduction:
A multitasking environment requires versatile tools of the trade that can handle a variety of different
tasks. In the past where separate components were used together perform one specific task or function;
manufacturers are now designing products which combine a multitude of features as an all-in-one
solution. With the wide spread popularity of the HDTV and Home Theatre PC's, Samsung Electronics has
designed a series of high-end multimedia ready monitors marketed under the SyncMaster brand name. The
SyncMaster product line ranges from standard CRT based monitors to LCD-TFT based monitors. Today in the
MTB Labs, we will be evaluating the new SyncMaster 930MP TFT-LCD Monitor, a high-end monitor that
combines several multimedia based features into an all-in-one solution.
Specifications:
The 930MP TFT-LCD Monitor is one of several available 19" based TFT-LCD monitors available from Samsung
Canada. This product is part of the popular SyncMaster series and is a high-end HDTV ready display for
users who want the benefits of High Definition television. Here are some features and specifications

The Samsung SyncMaster 930MP TFT-LCD Monitor ships in a double wall cardboard box with a plastic carry-on
handle positioned on the top. A product shot is showcased on the top and side panels, along with a
complete list of specifications and features. Inside the package the SyncMaster 930MP was packed
between two formed pieces of polystyrene and enclosed in a sealed protective plastic bag.

The Samsung SyncMaster 930MP TFT-LCD Monitor is bundled with a TV remote, one standard 15-pin D-sub VGA
cable, audio cable, radio antenna and a power adapter. After examining the specifications for this
monitor, I noticed that missing from the package was an additional DVI cable as well as a VESA 100mm
Wall Mounting Kit. The DVI cable should be relatively easy to replace but the VESA Wall Mounting Kit
will have to be ordered directly from the Samsung website. I'm pretty sure that this was an oversight
for the review package that I was sent and that standard retail packages include these components.
The SyncMaster 930MP TFT-LCD Monitor also includes a smaller plastic bag which contains an assortment
of items. The included CD contains the TFT-LCD monitor user guide, installation drivers and a brand
new software application called Natural Colour. The Natural Colour application software allows you to
manual adjust display optimization, colour adjustment and colour preference settings all from your
desktop. An eight page quick set-up guide covers the driver installation for different O/S platforms ranging
from all flavours of Windows to Linux. A secondary manual covers the hardware installation and
recommended safety procedures.
