Out of the box, the Samsung SyncMaster 930MP TFT-LCD monitor looks aesthetically pleasing and is almost a mirror image of the 152MP and 192MP models that I reviewed back in August 2003 and February 2004. The entire LCD is silver based with the exception of black highlights on the rear and base of the unit. Samsung Canada is marketing this particular unit as part of their high-end range line of consumer TFT-LCD monitors. The SyncMaster 930MP measures approximately 433mm (W) x 436mm (H) x 198mm (D) and has a maximum resolution of 1280 x 1024. The LCD has a total viewable image size of 19 inches with a pixel pitch of 0.294mm. The 930MP is an HDTV ready TFT-LCD and can be used as a standard computer or multimedia display. One of the impressive features noted with this particular unit is that the 930MP has a high contrast ratio of 1000:1 with a response time of 25ms.

The Samsung SyncMaster 930MP TFT-LCD Monitor has a series of small circular external silver buttons which allow the adjustment of the monitor settings. The buttons are touch sensitive and are located on the right hand side of the monitor. There are selectable options for adjusting or toggling PC use, Picture-In-Picture, External Video, Audio, Volume Adjustment, Onscreen Menu and Auto Tuning. On the left hand side are ports for a headphone jack, left and right audio, composite video and S-Video.

The design Samsung SyncMaster 930MP TFT-LCD Monitor moves away from a traditional metal bezel in favour of a smaller rectangular adjustable stand. The adjustable stand re-tracks with a click of a button, folding out from behind the unit allowing the display area of 930MP to be moved upward to a maximum of 178 degrees. While the existing base does not provide much in terms of height adjustment, when placed on a flat desktop surface consumers do have an alternative method of mounting this unit. The rear portion of the unit includes four mounting holes which can accommodate a VESA 100mm mounting bracket to hang this unit on a wall.
