Introduction:
The revolution of new and emerging technologies has made it very simple for the average consumer to upgrade
from legacy components with ease. The popularity of LCD-TFT monitors has been fueled by the wide
selection and price reductions offered by a variety of manufacturers. In the past, where a CRT monitor
would be a standard component of a complete computer system, consumers now have the option of selecting
from analog and digital LCD-TFT alternatives. Samsung Electronics has been at the forefront of the
consumer market developing a wide range of CRT and LCD-TFT products based on its popular SyncMaster
brand name. The company has recently released its brand new revised line of Ultra Thin LCD-TFT monitors.
Today in the MTB Labs, we will be evaluating the Samsung SyncMaster 920T LCD Monitor a mid-range LCD
that offers sleek looks and an abundance of features.
Specifications:
The 920T TFT-LCD Monitor is one of many available LCD based monitors available from Samsung Canada. This
product is part of the popular SyncMaster series and incorporates an ultra thin narrow bezel with a

The Samsung SyncMaster 920T TFT-LCD Monitor ships in a double wall cardboard box with a plastic carry-on
handle positioned on the top. A product shot is showcased on the top and side panels, along with a
complete list of specifications and features. Inside the package the SyncMaster 920T was packed
between two formed pieces of polystyrene and enclosed in a sealed protective plastic bag.

The Samsung SyncMaster 920T TFT-LCD Monitor is bundled with one standard 15-pin D-sub VGA, DVI-D cable,
audio cable and a power adapter. After examining the specifications for this monitor, I noticed
that the package did not include a VESA 75mm Wall Mounting Kit. The Samsung lists this kit as a separate
add-on which must be purchased for those consumers who wish to wall mount this unit.
The SyncMaster 920T TFT-LCD Monitor also includes a smaller plastic bag which contains an assortment of
items. The included CD contains the TFT-LCD monitor user guide, installation drivers and an assortment
of application software. The application software includes Natural Color, Magic Tune v2.0 and Pivot Pro.
The Natural Color application software allows you to manual adjust display optimization, colour adjustment
and colour preference settings all from your desktop. MagicTune v2.0 is essentially the software equivalent
of the On Screen Display Menu which allows you to customize monitor settings from your desktop. The Pivot
Pro software lets you rotate your computer display from landscape to portrait orientation, making documents,
e-mail and web browsing easier to manage. The software works with multiple monitor configurations in
Windows 2000/XP and supports all rotating orientations: portrait 90, presentation 180, portrait 270, and
landscape. An eight page quick set-up guide covers the driver installation for different O/S platforms
ranging from all flavours of Windows to Linux. A secondary manual covers the hardware installation and
recommended safety procedures.
