MODTHEBOX would like to thank SilverStone Technology
for sending the SilverStone Lascala SST-LC14M HTPC Case for review.
Introduction:
The digital revolution has seen explosive growth as consumers move towards the latest technology to
be sub-planted in the living room. Home Theatre has become a term that is commonly used for most consumers looking
to design their own personal entertainment systems. The popularity of the Home Theatre PC or HTPC has
simplified the process of assembling an all-in-one multimedia solution using store bought PC components.
Add in the abundance of available software applications and support from software giant Microsoft and
you have the all the tools available to accomplish this task. SilverStone Technology has been at the
forefront of the HTPC market by developing an award winning product line of HTPC style
chassis for consumers who want to custom build their own units. The company has recently expanded its
popular Lascala product line with the introduction of the several new chassis designs. Today in the MTB Labs, we
will be evaluating the new Lascala SST-LC14M, a brand new HTPC style enclosure developed by SilverStone
Technology.
Specifications:
The Lascala SST-LC14M HTPC Case is one of eighteen different units available on the SilverStone Technology
website. Consumers have the option of selecting from two different colour formats (black and silver) as
well as two different model designs. The Lascala SST-LC14M HTPC Case comes pre-assembled and only supports
both mATX and ATX motherboard formats. Here are some specifications taken directly from the SilverStone Technology
website:

The SilverStone Lascala SST-LC14M HTPC Case arrived in boxed cardboard packaging with a black identification
labeling on the sides. The cardboard box resembled that of electronic component packaging used home
electronics and stereo equipment. The case was sealed in protected plastic with 2 pieces of cardboard
backing and polystyrene located on the left and right side of the unit.

The SilverStone Lascala SST-LC14M HTPC Case was bundled with an assortment of accessories which include
mounting screws, motherboard stand-offs, zip ties, power cable, 20-pin to 24-pin PSU adapter and a
3-pin to 4-pin fan adapter. A fold out installation manual provides step by step assembly of the case
including motherboard, fan mounts, and system components. My first impressions of the SilverStone Lascala
SST-LC14M HTPC Case after removing the packaging were extremely positive. The SST-LC14M is a huge step in
chassis design compared to the original SST-LC01 that I
reviewed 2 years ago. SilverStone has taken a very contemporary and modernized approach to designing the
SST-LC14M while maintaining the same high level of detail and craftsmanship seen on most Lascala HTPC cases.
The SST-LC14M carries a large footprint measuring 437mm (W) x 172mm (H) x 434mm (D) with a weight of 8.7kg.
The entire composition of the case has been designed using a custom aluminum front panel with a 1.0mm SECC body.
The main focus for the SST-LC14M is the inclusion of a smoked acrylic front panel which shields an integrated
VFD and IR receiver as well as built-in macro keys.
