When invoked, Auto User will cycle through all the information in the list. Duration times (in seconds from 1 to 20) is customizable for each item you wish to be informed of, and items can be added/removed from the cycle. Each item allows a maximum of 2 lines and can be aligned left, right or centered. It’s a handy feature, but does not allow for any transition effects.

Now for our feature presentation which is the Media Center control panel. From here the following Media Center functions are supported by the M-Play 202:

  • Media Center Home
  • TV
  • DVD
  • Guide
  • Music
  • Photos
  • Videos
  • Recording
  • Radio
  • Online Spotlight
  • Writing Disc
  • Recorded Shows
Like everything else the display allows customization of the two lines on the display, as well as horizontal alignment.

Media player support is built-in for streaming MP3 information across the display. There are four pre-set displays ready for your enjoyment and require little/no tweaking. The graphic VU display refreshes slower than dedicated home stereo consumables, however the overall look and feel is nicely presented. View the sample video for an example of MP3 stream via the M-Play 202.

Winamp support is also inclusive, and the setup/performance when listening to MP3’s across Winamp is basically the same. I noticed, however, that when Media Player is minimized the M-Play 202 display goes blank and re-appears when the Media Player window is restored. This anomaly does not occur when listening to MP3’s on Winamp.
