MODTHEBOX would like to thank Devin from North Water Xtreme PC Cooling for sending the Xtreme Xchangers for review.

North Water Xtreme PC Cooling

Introduction:

Water Cooling's mainstream acceptance amongst computer enthusiasts has opened up a viable market for providing alternatives to system cooling. There are currently a larger number of established companies in North America and overseas that provide retail based water cooling kits and accessories. While most commercial and DIY style water cooling kits follow the traditional approach to cooling system components, there are now supplemental add-on products being developed to further increase a water cooling kit's overall performance potential. Today in the MTB Labs, we will be evaluating North Water Xtreme Xchangers; a new inline radiator and heat exchanger for liquid cooled computer systems.

Specifications:

The North Water Xtreme Xchangers is a revolutionary inline radiator/heat exchanger for removing harmful heat from the coolant of liquid cooled systems. Consumers have the option of ordering the product in two different sizes (4" or 6") along with polished or 3 anodized colour options (Red, Blue or Black). Here are some specifications provided by North Water Xtreme PC Cooling:

The North Water Xtreme Xchangers have been in development for the past few months and MTB was privileged to receive three prototype review samples. Please note that the items provided in this review may slightly change when the commercial version of this product is made available at FrozenCPU. The samples arrived in a white corrugated box with PTA manufacturers logos on the sides. Inside the box, all the samples were wrapped in polystyrene sheets to protect the units during the shipping process.

Out of the box, my initial impressions of the North Water Xtreme Xchangers were very positive. The Xtreme Xchangers will be commercially available in two different sizes which include a 4 inch and 6 inch configuration. The premise behind this product is that it has been designed to be placed as an add-on component for an existing water cooling set-up. When installed inline especially in the path of a cooling fan; the Xtreme Xchangers remove heat away as coolant flows through it via passive cooling. North Water Xtreme PC Cooling has taken a universal approach to the design by supporting all available tubing sizes and fittings available, including compression fittings seen on commercial based water cooling kits from Alphacool, Asetek, Innovatek, NextCool and Xice. The composition of the Xtreme Xchangers consists of CNC Machined Billet Aluminum with a center mounting hole added for the insertion of a temperature probe. The samples included in the review package include removable 1/2" OD fittings attached to the base of the units via black O-rings that form a water tight seal.
